Open Wide

Open Wide

Open Wide, is a romantic comedy drama about learning to stand up for yourself in life.

David Wivvelsfield (Alexander Armstrong) is nice, maybe too nice for his own good. His last job and relationship went horribly wrong and so he is keen to make a fresh start. Armed with a new job as a prison Arts Officer and a new home above a fish and chip shop, managed by Ray (Ian Bartholomew) and Rose (Alison Newman), David is now keen to find love. He is soon smitten by Karen (Sally Bretton), his dentist's sensational assistant.

In order to spend more time with her, David engineers an oral emergency despite his deep-seated fear of dentistry. Sadly he is unaware that the dentist, Hillman (Nigel Havers), loves Karen too.

There's nothing worse than a jealous dentist with a sadistic streak. Or is there? Being forced to date an intimidating inmate (John Henshaw's) daughter (Angela Griffin) isn't exactly good news either.

The Times, Dec 2005, "Open Wide is an amiable and enjoyable klutz's progress – a pleasant way to spend a winter night."

Daily Mail, Dec 2005, "Witty, entertaining and full of smart one-liners."

Open Wide transmitted on ITV1 in December 2005.
