Commercial Director

Following his appointment in April 2007 as Commercial Director, Rupert looks after all aspects of the company’s commercial business, working closely with COO Sara Geater to develop talkbackTHAMES’s strategy for New Media Platforms and acting as the main point of contact with Fremantle to drive secondary revenues across our major programme brands. A member of the talkbackTHAMES management board since 2003 he also runs the company’s DVD business and overseas the Stephen Street studios.

Rupert originally joined the company as Legal and Business Affairs Executive for Pearson Television in 1996. He went on to become Head of Legal and Business Affairs for Thames Television in 2000, and was appointed Director of Legal and Business Affairs shortly after Talkback and Thames merged in 2003. During this time Rupert negotiated several major programme deals including Pop Idol series 1&2, The X Factor, The Apprentice and a five year contract for The Bill.

Rupert started his film and television career working as a freelance runner and researcher before training as a solicitor in the City with Richards Butler.

Rupert sat on the PACT Business Affairs Committee from 2003 to 2007 and has recently completed the Advanced Management Programme at Cranfield University.
