Phil Bowker joined talkbackTHAMES in March 2008 as a Comedy Editor in the Comedy Department, where he is responsible for developing and producing scripted comedy.  Prior to joining talkbackTHAMES, Phil produced BBC3’s award winning comedy Pulling.

Phil began his career as a stand up comedian in the early 90s before he was accepted on BBC Radio Comedy Producer's training course in 1993.  Over the next five years he worked with high profile comedians including Peter Serafinowicz, Harry Hill and Matt Lucas. 

He went on to work at Avalon where he worked with the likes of Jim Tavare, Al Murray, Stewart Lee and Ricky Gervais – where he got Ricky Gervais his first job on television. 

He returned to the BBC to work with Sean Lock on two series of the Bafta nominated 15 Storeys High and other projects. 

He left the BBC to go freelance and produced the Bafta nominated first series of Pulling, and its critically acclaimed second series.

Phil exec produced Peep Show creators, Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong’s Ladies and Gentleman, a talkbackTHAMES production for Channel 4’s Comedy Playhouse Season in Autumn 2007 and has just been commissioned by Channel 4 to write a pilot episode of a show he has devised and developed entitled ‘PhoneShop’ set in the cut and thrust world of a busy high street mobile phone outlet
