BBC One announces brand new Saturday night commission from Talkback called Everyone Loves Animals (w/t)

London, 5 March 2012

The BBC has today commissioned a brand new six part studio based comedy show called Everyone loves Animals (w/t) to transmit on Saturday evenings this spring.

Everyone Loves Animals (w/t) will see one man and his ‘dog’ host a spoof news programme featuring amusing animal-based clips, packaged and presented as news stories.  Anchoring the show is Tim Brooke-Taylor who will be assisted by his ‘newshound’, providing expert analysis on the animal kingdom.  The ‘newshound’ will be played by a comic actor.

Together they offer their differing perspectives on hilarious news from the animal kingdom, whilst providing a humorous insight into the special and unique relationship that exists between one man and his dog. From criminal cats to piano playing pugs, this is the news as you’ve never seen it before.

Tim Brooke-Taylor comments on the new series: “When I was presented with the idea of this show I thought ‘this sounds good’. Believe me it’s much, much better than that. The only problem I have is being upstaged by very, very funny animals’.

Commissioned by Karl Warner, executive editor for entertainment, the programme was devised by the comedy entertainment development team at Talkback under Head of Development Juliet Denison.

Karl Warner says of the commission: ‘We're really pleased to be working with Talkback on this new BBC1 series and we think it will offer a fresh take on a well-loved area for Saturday tea time.’

Managing Director, Talkback, Dan Baldwin comments: “As a nation of animal lovers, this series will get the whole family laughing, including your pets. It’s the perfect teatime comedy treat. We’re delighted with the commission and we’re thrilled that Tim Brooke-Taylor has agreed to host this.’

Everyone Loves Animals (w/t)(6x30 mins) is a Talkback Production for BBC.  Executive Producers are Dan Baldwin and Leon Wilson.  Series Producer is Ed Thomas.
