Last night talkbackTHAMES was named Best Independent Production Company at the Broadcast Awards. They beat off stiff competition from Kudos Film and TV, Shine TV, Love Productions, Optomen Television and Wall To Wall. The jury described talkbackTHAMES as being "a creative and business powerhouse which has made an outstanding contribution to British television across the board." tT CEO Lorraine Heggessey attributed the win to "the hard work and creativity of everyone at the company, staff and freelancers alike".
Elsewhere in the ceremony, The Apprentice was named Best Entertainment Programme above fellow nominees Harry Hill's TV Burp, Mock the Week, Strictly Come Dancing and talkbackTHAMES' own QI and The X Factor. The jury said of The Apprentice: "talkbackTHAMES proved beyond doubt that, in the right hands, a simple but brilliant reality format can remain fresh well after the novelty has worn off. Well-produced and consistent quality entertainment".
The X Factor was also highly commended in the Entertainment category, with the jury saying: "This series seemed better than ever. Cheryl Cole was a well-judged successor to Sharon Osbourne, and the series also identified the best and most diverse vocal talent the show has ever seen."
Congratulations and many thanks to everyone at talkbackTHAMES!
